We are in a bit of a freeze here so I thought this would be an appropriate picture. Gus is the official name of the polar bear, though I bought Ben a stuffed one and we officially renamed him Timothy bear. He has a huge heart and loves to sneak into bed at night,

I continue to be very impressed with the pictures my new camera has taken. They look very good printed as well!

Favorite animals

One thing Ben and I discussed at the zoo was that it is nice that the zoo has such a variety of animals as it makes it easy for kids to have a favorite animal that they can go and see. My favorite zoo animals as a kid was pretty typical. I loved the big cats, mostly the snowy and clouded leopards. In the jungle building we ran across a young boy who was absolutely thrilled to see the tapir (his favorite animal) at the zoo. And posed so that his mother could take a picture of him (and his stuffed tapir) with the real tapir. I thought it was absolutely adorable.

So, what is your favorite zoo animal?

My very awesome boyfriend purchased a software called Manga studio for my christmas present and we installed it today. (Ok, he installed it and I sat there and watched him. I did the inking in MS (All one brush and one width, I wasn't getting fancy to begin with.) and then transferred and colored in photoshop. I think it came out cute for what it is and look forward to trying the other brushes and styles in the future.

DINOSAURS

The natural history museum had an exhibit up before we left for New York featuring the painting of some guy whose name I probably should remember but do not. He did a lot of nature pictures and even some guesses at what dinosaurs would look like. This was not typical of his work, but I still really liked it because there is so much going on in the picture.

I figured this was an appropriate post considering I am hungry and craving sweets. I am being a good girl though and eating healthy. that wasn't true in New York though, where I had a crumbs cupcake at the museum. They are pretty big considering the price, but i wasn't that impressed with the taste. Honestly to me it just tasted like a cupcake. It just happened to be a very pretty cupcake.

Pretty as a peacock

The Bronx zoo had several peacocks running around. I know they are actually supposed to be mean, nasty birds. This one was pretty brave and would walk very close to the visitors.

Yesterday my family celebrated a belated Christmas. This is probably the only picture of my brother and sister with myself since grade school. (See how Luna managed to sneak into the picture as well.)

It was very different this year, as I think Christmas looses a little of the magic when you are not celebrating it on the right day. This was also the first year I was ever away from my family for the holidays. No cookies. No santa. It was just a little bizarre. My boyfriend was a sweetie and sat down and watched the Rudolf Christmas special on Christmas eve so that I was not too sad.

Also this year everyone was dealing with the crappy economy. My father is currently laid off and my sister had lost her job just before Christmas. My brother was a real sweetheart and bought multiple gifts for just about everyone. I think I got a nintendo DS game, porcelain hello kitty figure, nice leather gloves, and a death note novel from him alone. Dani got me a giftcard for Books-a-million, which is apparently very near my house. I also have new fuzzy pink penguin pajamas and a panda bear stuffed animal and a kay jewelers open hearts (aka suspiciously butt-shaped) necklace.

Now I am just trying to sit back and relax before school starts up again.

My goal this year is not to post a picture every day, because that obviously doesn't work, but I would like to do five a week.
